Program Overview

A key component of the LSU College Readiness Program, Dual Enrollment allows high school students to take LSU courses right in their own classrooms, earning both LSU and high school credits simultaneously. Dual Enrollment courses can be paired with regular high school classes, high school honors courses, or even high school AP courses.

Affordable access to high quality college-level courses that expose students to the high demands and challenges of undergraduate curriculum.

The Facilitator Delivery Model offers high school teachers the opportunity to be trained and formally certified as discipline-specific LSU DE Facilitators.

The Online Delivery Model offers the opportunity for high schools to provide a teacher in the classroom who is trained to serve as a coach.

Students must meet the Board of Regents’ Minimum Requirements for Academic Dual Enrollment Courses.

The cost for each School/District is $100 per credit hour per course plus any required books/technology.

In accordance with LSU policy, LSU will calculate the final grade according to the grading scale for each specific course per the course syllabus.

Under the default program, students who complete a dual enrollment course with a final grade of A, B, or C will be given the option to have the course transcribed for college credit. Any final grade of D or F will automatically be converted by LSU to a non-credit grade.

For schools not participating in the default program, an addendum to the MOU is required—whereby resulting in all student grades being transcribed.

LSU provides free mandatory training for all teachers selected by the school.

Teachers are trained by our LSU Instructor of Record to deliver content and provide individualized instruction to create engaging learning experiences and effectively guide students during the duration of the course.

Each department offering LSU courses for dual enrollment has an LSU full-time faculty member serving as the DE Coordinator for that department and one or more LSU faculty members serving as IORs.

LSU Dual Enrollment courses are offered in two delivery models: the Facilitator Model and the Asynchronous Online Model. In both delivery models, the DE courses are taught with the same content and level of rigor as the corresponding courses on campus while students remain in their high school classroom. The LSU Instructor of Record (IOR), who is an LSU faculty member, provides all course materials and assessments.
