The U.S. Department of Energy and Argonne National Laboratory recently selected LSU to participate in the EcoCAR Innovation Challenge, an Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition that challenges university teams to apply cutting-edge engineering to real vehicles while developing the technical, leadership, and project management skills needed for careers in automotive engineering, transportation, and advanced manufacturing.
K. Renee Horton’s path to helping power humanity’s return to the moon didn’t follow a straight line. A Baton Rouge native and LSU graduate, Horton turned early setbacks into fuel, ultimately carving out a career at NASA that connects her directly to the Artemis program.
LSU Mechanical Engineering Assistant Professor Ope Owoyele has received a Young Investigator Program award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). The Young Investigator Program supports early-career scientists and engineers who show exceptional ability and promise for conducting basic research. Owoyele's award will provide $450,000 over three years to support research at the intersection of combustion science, physics-informed machine learning, and computational modeling.
